Hi,
Can anyone help i am searching for any information on two family's the family of Richard John Attwood, born 11/04/1906, father Ernest William Attwood , mother Rosina Gray. Richard married Lilian Beatrice Wilson,Alfred Wilson , on the 6/11/1928 in Merthyr Tydfil both Ernest and Alfred were miners. I am having trouble finding either family in the 1911,1901 and 1891 census, also i don't know where lily was born some of the family say they moved to Wales sometime after her birth in 1907. Richard and Lily moved to Redditch sometime after 1928 has anyone got ineither family, Lily apparently was a only child.

Thanks Keith.

There's a marriage on free BMD of Ernest William Attwood to Rosina Gray, Dec 1891, Reg District Pontypridd, GRO ref 11a 803. This fits with the 1911 census description of their having been "married 19yrs"

Hi Keith,

Rosina Gray was my great great grandmother. She married Ernest W Attwood, as you know, in 1891 - she's then listed on the census with him and their children in 1911. However, within that time, Rosina had married my great great grandad, Alfred James Hadley in 1902 - they had, at least, 3 boys together. Those boys were put into a home shortly before Rosina resumed her marriage to William Attwood (despite being registered as a widow on her other marriage certificate). You can find Rosina 'Hadley' in 1901 living with their first born child in Lydney, Gloucestershire.

Sydney Reginald Attwood and Richard John Attwood were just a couple of my great grandad's half brothers. I had thought Rosina had married in secret but this morning received a death certificate for my great uncle, Ernest Victor Hadley, for whom Sydney Reginald Attwood was the informant: listed as step brother and actually living in the same house in Coventry. And so the mystery deepens!
Am I right in assuming you're following Richard Attwood's line through Lily B Wilson? - Sorry to bombard you with all of this. I just haven't found anyone who knows anything and given the mystery these people have always been to our family, it's really exciting. I don't suppose you know anything about Rosina Gray?
Anyway, that's the other side of the Attwood family. I've probably got excited over nothing but you know what it's like when you hit a brick wall and then get a bit of a lead!
Hope to hear from you,
All the best,
Fran (Stapleton nee Killworth nee Hadley nee Gray!)
