Ridgway family - Stockport, Cheshire

Help please in tracing the family of John James Ridgway, his wife, Maria Bromley and their child, Jessie Ridgway in Stockport, Cheshire. I gather they are on the 1881 Census but no trace in 1891 although they should still be there. I'm placing this request for a member of our local genealogical club here in B.C. who doesn't have easy access to the Internet. She's hit a brick wall trying to find her ancestor, Jessie Ridgway so asked if I could try picking the brains of Brit-Gen researchers since I'm always singing the praises of this site at our meetings. Any help would be appreciated and I'll pass all messages on promptly to her.

You are absolutely right! and I apologize for wasting your time by not being better prepared. I went back to my friend who disclosed her ancestor, Jessie Ridgway, may have had 2 sisters - Ethel and Fanny. With that, I did some digging on my own and found that, unlike the rest of the family, Fanny had been born Shropshire. The searcher on whose behalf I was writing, had been limiting all her work to Cheshire so once we'd widened the search, we've been able to give her enough to work on for quite a while.... including certificates for the father's birth in Shropshire, John and Maria's marriage etc.

Thanks again for reading my original enquiry; If I hadn't got your reply, I probably wouldn't have pushed for more info and unbricked the wall that had blocked this search for quite a while. Mea culpa.
