thanks for the help everyone my family is more in the cumberland westmorland and scotland area, and from what I'm told big family links with the appleby horse fair thanks alot jill

Jill; I wouldn't know about the Scottish system but, I think I've picked up along the way that one might examine the last pages of the given Census. I think '61 / '71 comes into it. Before one or other of those dates, people not in a 'house' didn't need to be counted.

Then, with one of those two, IF I remember correctly, they had to be. But they might still have been shuffled off to the back of the book, for one year at least. I believe, there after, they had to be put in as " Living in ..... (Tent, Vardo, Barn, what ever) " and the road they were located on given.

Anyway; Try running through to the back pages. Ye never know who or what might be there ;)
