Hello ROSIA12,

What information do you already have about John Devine, apart from that he was born c1785?

Do you have his baptism records? Dublin was a bit of a melting pot when it came to religion: Church of Ireland, Catholic, plus Baptists, Presbyterians, Quakers etc.

Nothing else I am afraid apart from the fact his family were Catholic.

If you can contact the National Library of Ireland, they may be able to find details of the family in Wilson's Alphabetical List. However, one of these (http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php?cmd=listlinkeditems&cat=D7787&supplier=&breadcrumb=Directories%3A+Ireland:Directories+of+I reland+listed+by+Product) may also be of help. :)

Oh this is really interesting! My Husband's family are called Devine, and Im really struggling with finding anything out.

I *think* I have this righ, dates may be off a littlet:
Winifred Abrahams was born in 1928 in Lancashire to Albert Abrahams (1908) and Winifred Mary Devine (1903).
I believe that Winified M Devine was born to John and Mary Ellen Devine but I can not find any dates for their births only that possibly they came from Dublin. I can not find a maiden name for Mary Ellen but it may be Connor Clark(e) according to an elderly relative.

Can anyone shed any light? Would be very grateful! x

Obbie, firstly thank you so very much for your time here, it is genuinely appreciated.

I'm using the records available via ancestry.co.uk, so I have been able to view a marriage registration (not their individual certificate) only, for 1927. It says they married in Norther Manchester. Unfortunately it does not provide any further details.

I have looked up the suggestions and all seems very much to fit. My Mother in Law (Winifred Devine's Grand-Daughter) is quite confident that she had an Irish accent and was born in Ireland but I think it's just John Devine from Ireland and the Farmer's look like they were from Oldham which is where much of the family now live and have always lived.

From what I think is correct is that Winifred Devine married Albert Abrahams who had Winifred Abrahams in around 1928.

Thank you so very much once again

i would say have a look here , its free , births deaths marriages , can be searched by surname or first name , place or date .
when you put in family in fo from previous post on ancestry press search family trees button , somone has the 5 family members from 1901 census as tree , might be worth contacting the person who posted .
