I am looking for the parents and grandparents of Sir Thomas Bouch and his famous railway brother William

Will dated 22 Apr 1832, proved ref 1838/19, William Bouch:
Their father William was considerably wealthy and left bequests to his children William, Thomas, Richard, James, and Ann and to his wife Elizabeth Sanderson
He left his eldest son William the Jackson Estate in Thursby, and Whinnow Croft. Second son Richard inherited The Ship Inn in Thursby (which is still in use today and has a plaque at the entrance stating that William who at one time owned the Inn was the father of Sir Thomas). Richard also inherited Garth Gardens Cottages.

Various censuses report his wife Elizabeth Sanderson as:
1841 census in Thursby
Elizabeth BOUCH, 50+, Publican living with
Ann, 20+
Thomas, 15+, Land surveyor ap
James, 15+
James SANDERSON, 40+, MS
Nancy GASH, 20+, FS
All were born in Cumberland

1851 census in Thursby
Elizabeth BOUCH, head, W, 67, Landed proprietor farming 28 acres and employing 2 labour, b Cumberland Hayton
Ann, daur, U, 33, b Cumberland, Thursby
James SANDERSON, Brother, U, 54, Ag Lab, b Cumberland, Hayton.

1861 Census Thursby : farming 38 acres

I seek their ancestors. Family data makes the claims listed below (if you can verify any of them that would be most kind) Many Thanks

Hi again edsel,

In case anyone comes anew to the BOUCH puzzle, it will probably be helpful for them to be aware of earlier threads on the same family.

So here are the crosslinks.

Thanks JAP
Yes very helpful
If only you were a son of Cumberland we'd have been there in a flash!

I keep finding things buried in various notebooks and its hard to know what helps and what hinders

Sorry esdel, I think we could be getting into a Bouch overload situation here.

I am going to close this thread. If you think you can help esdel then please reply to one of the other threads listed by JAP (thank you).
