Where is this Prison?

Hi everyone

My great great grandfather was in prison in New Zealand, it was called Paparoa Prison. Does anybody know where it was, or anything about it?
The only thing about his life in New Zealand is that he was living in Dundein, in the South Island.

I believe also known as Christchurch Men’s Prison.
Anything I can hunt out for you in Dunedin?

Looks like we manage to hide the location of our prisons quite well. Wasn't an easy job to find the location.
Papamoa is a mens prison in Christchurch - a few hours drive North from Dunedin (300km).
"...area East of Darfield beginning near Chatterton's Road (Paparoa Prison area),.."
Tried looking on googlemaps but its not obvious. Hopefully a local will pickup on this thread.

Can you be more specific? I can see the island from my house, and my daughter works in the suburb called Green Island.

Yes its the suburb to the south of the city. My great grandmother went to school there in the 1910s. And her and her family lived there for a few years. I was just wondering if you knew anything about it. Because I dont really know anything about Green Island, being on the other side of the world!!

That's odd - it does't SEEM like it's on the other side of the world to me ;)
