I have a photo of my uncle (top row far right) circa 1940-43 with a group of his peers. I wondered if anyone recognised any of the men in the photo or any of the insignia? Could it be during his training?

I do know he joined 49 Squadron in 1943 and sadly was killed just 20 years old returning from an operation in September 1943. Any information would be welcome (just hope the link works !)

Hi
The three badges that can be seen on the front centre man (he has the most so it is easier to describe)
Top is the RAF eagle
Next is the tradesman badge of radio technician
Bottom is Leading Aircraftman

Now the forage caps having a flash of colour could mean that they were in training.

Hope that helps

Further to Neil's post, I have just read that trainee air crew wore a white flash on their caps. :)
Hi Finbar. I thought that but couldn't find any reference to it.

Hi

Thank you for your help, it places the photo in June-July 1943 probably at RAF Wigsley.
