With many hours of research, hunting, ordering certificates, checking directories and with the tremendous help here, it all came together yesterday with the arrival of a death cert for Rose Walsh which had her daughter's name on it. This daughter's marital information I had sussed out a few years ago and had her address, but still I wasn't positive til yesterday. I had to have complete verification before I approached her.
Today by telephone I met my new found 2nd cousin DJ. She was warmly receptive and genuinely interested. We were both surprised at each other! She has no knowledge of the Walsh's but did describe her brother's awful death when she was just 13 and then her father's death a few months later. She also described going to visit my gt aunt the Nun (they got to stand outsisw the convent gate and look in as the Nuns filed past!)
She looked after her mother for 18 yrs and is not in touch with her younger sister. I am really happy I phoned - I told her none of us are getting any younger. It is important to me to let my rellies know I that I care enough to find them and let them know their history.
We chatted for about an hour. I told her I would send her some stuff and pics. She said that she would keep up communication. I hope so. I wanted to reach across the ocean and hug her - I don't think it has been terribly easy for her. |hug|
So now I have one last Walsh family to find - but I can slow that hunt down while I concentrate on my other lines. Maybe I can get this pile of paperwork put away afterall!
Every effort is worth it :D
