Hi,

My Uncle, David PARK, was a 2nd Lieutenant in the SLI and died of malaria in 1946 in Pakistan.

I have googled the SLI and have some basic info about the regiment, but was hoping someone could shed some light on more specific activity or give me some idea of how to find out more information of what is was like serving in India.

Thanks

Tony

Just an additional piece of information....

The CWGC site has his name down twice, one being spelt slightly wrong from the other and gives his burial at a Rangoon Memorial and also at Rawalpindi Cemetery.

http://www.cwgc.org/search/SearchResults.aspx?surname=Park&initials=D&war=0&yearfrom=1900&yearto=2000&force=&nationality=&send.x=41&send.y=13

If you haven't already found his military record, then check out the attached link. The India Office library and records are part of the British Library. I believe they hold the files relating to British Officers who served in the Indian Army pre independence.

Good Luck!
