William Penfold & Elizabeth Dann/Darn married about 1834 Headcorn area Kent.
Having tried Pallots marriages without success and new to researching parish records can anyone advise where to start not knowing which parish / church etc or indeed any helpful websites.

I wonder if the marriage you are referring to is the one on IGI, which refers to the marriage "about 1834" between William penfold Of Headcorn and Elizabeth (no maiden name given)
This is a patron sheet record, with no other information, not even the author's details or the location / source of the original record. Most irritating!
But the fact that it states "of Headcorn" indicates that possibly the marriage took place other than in Headcorn.
In addition to the CofE (St Peter and St Paul) there was also a strong Wesleyan chuch in the area; it was not uncommon at that time for members of the Wesleyan faith to marry in the established church away from their own parish (e.g. if the local CofE minister refused to marrry those who were not members of his own flock: many London churches specialised in conducting such marriages and made a handsome profit out of the business.
You may be better taking a step back, if you have not already done so, and getting the birth certificate of any child of the couple after 1837 to find the mother's maiden name. This will give you a better chance of finding the marriage.
Another piece of bad news is that a lot of the parish records from that part of Kent are in bad condition. The fact that LDS have done two separate filmings of the records of Headcorn indicate that this applies in this case.
The most useful site I can recommend is Hugh Wallis's site:
Kent FHS also have a number of CDROMs including parish register transcripts
Hope this helps

Some individuals have produced marriage indexes for Kent, and do lookups for a small fee. 1813-1837 for the whole of Kent has been done by Michael Gandy. I don't have his contact details, unfortunately, but you might find them at GENUKI www.genuki.org.uk ; they are also listed on Maureen Rawson's Kent Genealogy Pages website.

You should be able to get details through Kent FHS. I gather from their website that he is member #3 on their list, and a regular speaker at their meetings

"You should be able to get details through Kent FHS"
...or through the Society of Genealogists or through AGRA or just to firstname.lastname@example.org
