Non conformist in London

I'm having problems finding the names and locations of nonconformist churches/meeting places in London. My Brown family lived in Portpool Lane, St Andrew, Holborn in the 1850's but seem to have had their children baptised somewhere other than the local parish church. They were of nonconformist background. Any ideas?

Try BMDregisters.co.uk......it is a pay site,but you can search for free.

Thanks, but it looks as though everything on BMD registers is covered by the genealogist - which I subscribe to. So I'm looking elsewhere - but where?

When civil registration came in, many non-conformist registers up to about 1840 were handed over to the Registrar General and made their way to the National Archives. It is these that have been digitised by BMD Registers.

Non conformist registers after about 1840 may or may not have been deposited at the County Record Office.

It's best to stick to civil registration records where possible for events after 1837. Non conformists were enthusiastic supporters of civil registration.
