Help needed please,
I have found a marriage -Thomas Walton m Jane Thomas 1824 in the south shields St. Hilda P.Rs Their first child was born in May1824.
Where do I apply for a copy of the marriage (Durham ?) and will they accept the date of marriage as January to May 1824 ? or will I have to go and search personally ?
Happy easter
Terry

Licences were not issues till September 1837 onward so all you can do for earlier periods is look at the Parish register and note the detail.

Thanks Ron,
The details are from the parish register of St. Hilda South Shields.
What I am asking is; who holds the parish registers for South shields and would they supply me with a copy and would they search the months Jan. to April ?
Regards
Terry

Hi Terry
Try Tyne and Wear Archive Service. They appear to hold all of the records for this church for the period you are looking for.

Thanks Jan,
I found that Durham records office holds the information I am seeking.
I have to sing their praises, it is the best record office that I have dealt with - and the cheapest !
Kind regards
Terry
