Hey Daz, I found, a long time ago & the same has been mentioned here in other posts..after a Parental death a Family seems absent from census reports. Either they are in foster care, with rellies, on the street or haven't yet become accustomed to functioning with out missing Parent/s. Maybe if they are in temp accomodation the household head doesn't know how to list them.
I'd like to know the answer too.

I don't know if it's her, but there is a marriage of a Julia FARMER to a John Henry BOWDLER in Dudley Sep qtr 1891 Vol 6c p155
In the 1901 census they are at 14 Campbell St, Kingswinford and Julia is described as 39 (poetic licence?) and born in Brierley Hill, Staffordshire. She has a 9 year old son.

Just spotted them in 1910, still in Port Jervis, enumerated as Fanner. Charles is now saying 1892 as date of immigration.

Julia certainly shows up in the passenger lists for 1892. Charles is harder to pick as there are several.

Julia Farmer, wife, 48, b. England, parents b. England, immigr = blank

I can't see them in 1920, but think I have found Julia in 1930:
945 West End Avenue, Manhattan, New York
She's lodging with a widowed 71 year old Frederick Barrisse, a bank teller.
Julie G. Farmer, maid, 70, widowed, age at first marriage = 25, b England, parents, b. England, immig 1895, naturalized, housekeeper, private family
middle initial = Gittens?

For deaths in New York City, here's how they'll take your money:
http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/death.shtml
and for deaths outside of New York City, here's the website:
http://www.health.state.ny.us/vital_records/genealogy.htm
I'll look for passenger lists a little later.

In which case it is better to "bump" your original thread - by posting a bit of info to the thread ;)
The problem with duplicating (or creating another thread on the same person if you prefer), is that the first thread may already have posts which can often assist others to help and add extra info.
The duplication of threads is - as is explained in the AUP - not permitted, and duplicates should be removed. As Moderators, we tend to close the latest thread and link to the original rather than simply delete - after all, we all get stuck at times and it is easy to forget that we have already mentioned an ancestor.
For info, the AUP states -
"Posting of the same message to more than one forum is not allowed as it clutters the board and causes confusion. Duplicate posts will be removed."
Mark
Yip no worrys , we went down the wrong creek with Julia last posting ..
