Apologies in advance if I’m asking something really obvious.

My g..g grandfather, Charles John Bond, helpfully begins his will by saying that he was born in the Parish of East Greenwich, Kent, on 30 May ("old stile", 10 June "new stile") 1749.

I’ve seen there is the church, St Alphage, in Greenwich with the records for the appropriate dates at the London Metropolitan Archives. Before I get my hopes up, is this EAST Greenwich?

Another descendent told me that the church records had been lost/destroyed for East Greenwich.

I've Googled, but got confused, as there are so many irrelevant answers

Thank you!

The Parish of East Greenwich still exists ...
http://www.southwark.anglican.org/parishes/abc_idx.htm

Though for the moment I can't find it on the Genuki site
http://www.genuki.org.uk
either under "Kent"
http://users.ox.ac.uk/~malcolm/genuki/big/eng/KEN/parishes.html
or "London"
http://homepages.gold.ac.uk/genuki/LND/parishes.html

But the NW Kent Family History Society does have a good webpage about Greenwich

Thank you so much for all of that :)

I was getting bogged down with Google, instead of thinking clearly.

I really appreciate all the help.

Thanks!
