I can find both names being married in 1839 in West Bromich, but not on the same page
Also no record of a Thomas/Phebe of any close names in that year.

Hi again
I looked for this marriage on your other Gittins thread, but could not find it. Could only find Phoebe Gittins marrying Abraham Gittins in 1849.

Hi.
Thankyou very much for the effort , its not just me being new to this then and missing the info !..
I came to the conclusion of this Astoria as ...In the 1841 Cencus Thomas Gittins was married to a Phebe and had a child Ann born 1839 .Thomas dies in 1848 and as Sue found Abraham gets married to a Phebe Gittins (which seemed very weird when i found it) 1849.Then on the next cencus 1851 Abrahams with Phebe and theres little Ann born 1839 (aarrh relief) so i just was happy to put in me ancestery book Abraham gets married to his brothers wife .But as you say i never did find the marriage of Thomas & Phebe but it happened and the closest it gets (thankfuly Phebe a rare name) is 1839 as Thomas and Phebe Ball get married in the same qtr .But it would be nice to be a bit more posative before searching for her parents..Darran

On each page of this marriage register, there are 4 marriages. When looking at the Free BMD, you cannot actually be sure who marries who, but you can be sure that each female marries one of the males. If you look at the information I found, Phebe Ball and Thomas Gittins are not on the same page, so unless there is a mistake in the recording of the register (which both Ancestry & BMD use - and you can see the orginal page, if you look) then they did not marry each other.
Can I ask how you know Phebe is Phebe Ball Gittins? Is it on a birth certificate that you have, or did you find it on the IGI? Because if this is correct, then it does seem likely that she married a Gittins - or at least, took his name.

Hi Darran,
The 1841 does not show relationships, just who was in the house, do you have the reference and we will have a look. :)

Found them 1841
Thomas Gittins 25 Forgeman
Phoebe Gittins 25
Ann Gittins 2
None of them born in county.
Class: HO107; Piece 568; Book: 20;
Is this really the same Thomas? You cannot be sure which county they were born in, or whether they were really married.

Don't guess!
Have you Thomas's death certificate, as there are other Thomas's who could 'fit the bill' To name a few:
Deaths Sep 1841
GITTINS Thomas Ellesmere 18 43
Deaths Jun 1842
Gittins Thomas Liverpool 20 217
Deaths Dec 1848
Gittins Thomas Ellesmere
Deaths Mar 1848
Gittins Thomas Dudley 18 324
Gittins Thomas W Bromwich 18 577
We can find no evidence of Thomas's marriage to Phoebe on the BMD, so it is likely they married (if at all) before Sept 1837. There is no record as yet on the IGI, so unless you can pinpoint where they were living at the time of marriage, their marriage will be a needle in a haystack to find on parish records.
Sue
Hi Sue..
Yes possibly they could have got married before 1837 but they would be living anywhere in the north midlands he christained Wednesbury , phebe down as born Birmingham family living Sedgley 1841 so you are right needle in haystack .I no you are laughing at me but the Death is a educated g**** ,sorry no i asked a lady on genes Aylisha i think her name was she said 1848 and it looked right considering as the children were born .So i think thats gonna stay a mystery for a while longer...It was worth a post to see if anybody was looking for the same or allready had done.Onwards and upwards then , see if i have some look with my other postings , and dont worry i have quite a few more mysterys to post soon , Its fun being a new member and talking to new people who help..
