I'm looking for John Radford (born Chown, Derbyshire in about 1881 to John Radford and Edith) and Harriet (formerly Heron and Barlow) who married in London in 1909. John was a piano maker. They had a son John (Jack) who married Mary and they lived at Castleview, Matlocks perhaps from 1930 to about 1960.
thanks
Helen

Are you sure about the location. Surely it must be Clowne, Derbyshire and Matlock without the "s" unless of course it is an old name covering both Matlock and say Matlock Bath.
Hope this helps a little.

Hello Jack,
yes you're right, Chown was a slip of the fingers, its Clown(e) in Derbyshire. this comes from the 1901 census when John and his siblings were living with their parents John and Edith in Bexhill on Sea in Sussex. Matlock is the address from my grandmothers birthday book. In full the book is inscribed "from H Radford, 'Castle View', Matlock, Derbyshire". I don't know who H Radford is but I know grandma (in Australia) kept in touch with Jack Radford and his wife Mary up until her death in 1970. Harriet Barlow's mother Georgina Isabella Hawkins was sister to my 2xgreatgrandfather John Hawkins who came to Australia in 1848. We're trying to trace family remaining in England
thanks for your help
Helen
