New free resource for Wiltshire -Swindon area

Dear all,

Greetings from the Local Studies and Family History collection, in Swindon Central Library.

We have a pilot scheme using Flickr - a free online photo sharing website. We are using to create an online gallery of photographs, postcards, maps, directories, posters, notices, and anything else we think might interest people from our collection.

Please take a look - it is indexed, fully searchable and every image is being addded to an integrated map. We are making an effort to add all relevant names (surnames and full names where applicable).

Our area covers the Borough of Swindon (which includes Old, New, and Even Swindon, Blunsdon St Andrew, Broad Blunsdon, Castle Eaton, Chiseldon, Hannington, Highworth, Hinton Parva, Inglesham, Liddington, Lydiard Tregoze/Tregoz, Rodbourne Cheney, Sevenhampton, South Marston, Stratton St. Margaret (inc Lower Stratton and Kingsdown), Stanton Fitzwarren, Wanborough, Wroughton).
In addition we collect Cricklade, Lydiard Millicent, Purton & Wootton Bassett.

Dear all on the B-G Forum,

Another update to say that we now have nearly 700 images on our free Flickr Gallery available, with many more to follow.

We are also in the process of creating subsets for each parish within the Borough, and sets for each decade. We are also indexing as many names as possible.
