Undischarged Bankruptee 1960s

How would I find out whether my Grand dad was an undischarged bankruptee according to his mistress when he died in 1965. KIERAN EDWARD LEACH known as Eddie Leach, died in Margate Kent.

I have letters written by my Dad to his mistress cum business partner who said that he had no money when he died. Somehow he had managed to spend more than £24,000 in the 1920s currency era.

Can the search be done online or would I need to go somewhere in person to do this?

The London Gazette lists Bankruptee's - not sure if all. There is also the local newspaper archive if they list them like they do nowadays. I am not sure whether the court records would be release although current ones can be searched for on the court system websites.
