Hello there

I would really like some help trying to find one of my relations, who apparently lived until 103.

I cannot seem to find this, is it because the documents are not available on line yet?

She is Annie Louise Buckley
Born 1884 in Sheffield
Married George Fearn in 1911
Daughter Born last q 1918 called Violet and I believe a son called George too, but I cannot seem to find his birth.
Lived in Nottingham in Beeston I think at 188 Station Road in 1926

Her brothers were Arthur Leonard and Alex, a sister Mary Ellen (known as Emma)

It really would be great to know if there is a date of death and that she did indeed reach that 100 years plus a bit.

:)

thank you

Macca

Hi Macca,

Ancestry has deaths fully indexed for the period 1984 to 2005 and she does not appear there. Do you know if she died outside England Wales perhaps?

FreeBMD has a birth which may be her in June Quarter 1884.

There is a death of an Annie Louisa Brady in December 1985, age 101 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire who was born 14 May 1884. Volume 6 Page 1209

Ilkeston is close to Nottingham. Is it possible she remarried?

Thank you so much for this! I will ask my father if he knew anything about it. It did occur to me that she re-married, I believe her first husband to be George William Fearn, do you know when he died?

Amazing to remarry at 79 then to live another 22 years, brilliant!

Unfortunately that would require examining the indexes manually for each quarter of each year as deaths are not yet fully indexed by Ancestry or FreeBMD. You would also need his year of birth to try and narrow things down.

I would not be surprised if the deaths are fully indexed in the next few months though.

looking at the 1911 Census, for George, for clues, there are 3 born about 1881
George W in Mansfield District
George William in Basford District
George William in Nottingham District

of course he might have been enumerated without reference to his middle name. Next to FreeBMD and there is:
Births Dec 1880
Fearn George William Nottingham 7b 221
also one born Chesterfield, Derbyshire

do you have the Census info. for Annie Louisa and her family?

1911 Census:
BUCKLEY ALEXANDER JOHNATHAN M 1860 51 Nottingham Nottinghamshire
BUCKLEY MARY HELENA F 1863 48 Nottingham Nottinghamshire
BUCKLEY ANNIE LOUISA F 1885 26 Nottingham Nottinghamshire
BUCKLEY ARTHUR LEONARD M 1897 14 Nottingham Nottinghamshire

I am not sure where Annie was in 1901, possibly New Malden, Surrey. Her family were at:
RG13/402/31; age: 3
137 Waterloo Road, Lambeth, London
Alexander J Buckley abt 1860 Sheffield, Yorkshire, Head occ: Gas Meter Maker
Helena Buckley Aabt 1864 Sheffield, Yorkshire, Wife occ: Cigar Maker
Alexander Buckley abt 1888 Westminster, London, Son
Arthur Buckley abt 1890 Lambeth, London, Son

and in 1891:
RG12/78/18 Page: 29
6, Little College Street, St Margaret And St John The Evangelist, Westminster
BUCKLEY, Alexander J Head Married M 31 1860 Plumbers Mate b. Sheffield, Yorkshire

Dear Nicolina
Yes I have details on Annie and her family, Arthur Leonard is my gf. I think to that Annie was in Surrey as a domestic, as the year is right on the census and so is the place of birth, so I am pretty sure it is her.

As for George William Fern I think he is the one from Basford, as it would be right because my father grew up there and people did not move that much, so I think that one may be him.

You may be able to help me further though - as you can see in 1891 there is a child called Florence, and I know there were 8 childen in the marriage of Alexander and Helena, though only 4 survived Mary Emma (known as Emma, Annie, Alex and Arthur) - do you know how I might find out the names of the children who died and when they were born?

Many thanks

Macca

freebmd.org.uk is a free birth, marriage and death index . Some years aren't complete though.

just looking at what is on the Census, it appears as though one of the children who died was Arthur born Lambeth about 1890. They then had another son about 1897 who they called Arthur Leonard.
Florence appears to have died in 1892:
Deaths Jun 1892
Buckley Florence aged 2 Lambeth Volume 1d, Page number could be 306 or 506

unfortunately, because they moved around so much, it is nearly impossible to find the other two kids that died.
