My GGGGF Samuel Ravenscroft married Jane Pearson 30/10/1826 at St Peter or Collegiate W'ton Staffs.According to the 1841 Census he was born in Rowley Regis.Is there anyway of tracing hin further back.?The marriage details are on the IGI and don't show a father

There is a baptism entry on the IGI for Samuel Ravenscroft baptised 05/03/1797 in Ashley, Staffs.

His sister baptised 19/05/1793

Parents John Ravenscroft and Bettey

I couldn't find Samuel on the 1841 census. Does it state he was born in Rowley Regis, or resident?

The IGI is an index, not a full transcription. You need to examine the actual parish register for any additional information. It is necessary to do this both to check the accuracy of the IGI data and because you need every clue you can get.

Samuel Ravenscroft,Jane and family are in short heath Willenhall in 1841.:) AS for Rowley Regis-My Great Grandfather his grandson became a local councillor and had a road named after him.In a local history book it says the family came from Rowley Regis.But where that bit of informationcame from I don't know.Can you please tell me what the sister was called? Thank you

I've just checked the 1851 Census and it said Rowley Regis on that one:)

The sisters name in the IGI entry is Sarah, baptised 19/05/1793.
