I have just started to delve a little into the family of my step grandmother - I intend to get to an interesting bit and then hand it on to my cousin who is directly descended from her.
My father told me that his step mother was first married to a sailor in WW1 and he was on the Q ships. I have read a very interesting book about them so I know what they did but I have no idea how to find out if her first husband was actually a crew member of one of these ships - or even if the name of the ship that Dad mentioned was real or mythical.
The man's surname was SINCLAIR and the ship name was Phaeton

Found some info on the Phaeton on http://www.worldwar1.co.uk/light-cruiser/hms-Arethusa.html It's not much, but I know how every little helps ;)
Best wishes

Thanks Ann, The information on this site was interesting because it mentioned the battle of Jutland and my maternal grandfather was in the Navy in WW1 and he was at Jutland too! I must dig out his service record and see which ship he was on.
