Have a 'purr'fect birthday Eileen. I will always remember our little chats during the bad old days when this site had all the problems of going off line, sometimes for days, and we kept in touch via private e-mail. I don't know where to begin to thank you all - your greetings and good wishes mean so much to me. At my time of life - I am now 83 - old friends do get fewer as the years go by, and some of the ones who are left are not quite 'with it' and tend to forget birthdays along with all the other things they forget. So it is especially nice when the people at BG that I have never met remember me. So ......

First of all thank you for the lovely cats you have found, and Michael, I have bookmarked your offering so that I can look at it again and again. My Bruno did exactly what Simon's cat did - demolished the settee arm - and I had to have the fabric taken from the back for the repair.

Jeeb - thank you for reminding me of the days when we exchanged PM's and e-mails, and also for reminding me that I was once witty and intelligent - time takes its toll and I doubt I could manage the Telegraph crossword now although I still make a brave stab at Radio Times. Is there one in the Beano ?

No floral gums sad to say but I did get a new mobile 'phone, a box of ten jigsaw puzzles (another passion), a plant and cash which I shall use for my next patchworking project and to pay the class fee.

I couldn't go out - I am grounded temporarily because of a change in medication so am 'advised' not to drive. With gout it has been impossible anyway but that is improving, so I have had a lovely quiet day, reading, embroidering, a bit of TV and a lovely long visit from my son. Tonight I shall watch Trial and Retribution with a small tot - I love Southern Comfort - to toast myself.

To all of you who wished me Happy Birthday - thank you, that is just what it has been.
