Looking for someone in Poole.

I have recently discovered, from the internet, the name and some basic details about someone who I believe might be descended from my wife’s grandfather.

I have searched the online BT telephone directories and used some credits on findmypast.com and also used the 192.com site itself. Whilst I have found full details of this person’s household from 2002 to 2005 freely available, I cannot locate him after that year.

In several towns there is a facility somewhere to ask if anyone knows or if anyone remembers (by name) someone who lives or who once lived there.

Could someone who is familiar with the particular area please advise if such a facility or something similar exists for Poole ?

dvddigby, you don't say where you are located so can't advise you on what record office to go to - but you could email the local studies centre or register office in Poole, Dorset and ask them for address information from the electoral registers most recent years.

I understand that the govt does electoral canvassing each year. The register offices are usually most helpful if you can't visit in person.

There is another site onlinesearches.info/account.php that holds current electoral info but it costs £4.95 for 30 days. Pay by cc. Using the surname search type has the most hits and gives who else lives at that address. Some do not list the phone number if they are unlisted.

How about trying an advert in the local paper, google for the Bournemouth Echo, this covers the Poole area as well.

Why not write to the last address known? They may just have ticked the 'no publicity' box on the form (meaning their details will not appear in the publicly available electoral register and therefore invisible to 192.com).

I have just discovered a facility called “Searchlines” on the Bournemouth Echo site.

It is not exactly what I originally had in mind but I will give it a try.
