UD = Urban District.

A UD is essentially what you would think of as a local council for a town and surrounding area.

It is not used in the UK any more.

Bedford road can be seen on google maps as running to the north east of sutton coldfield centre,just to the east of good hope hospital. It seems to consist of fairly large detached houses . Sutton coldfield, particularly at that time , was a a rather affluent area. The 1914 map shows fields covering the area and today there is no evidence of any army facility. Indeed I would think the local inhabitants would take great exception to one being placed there. It would seem that the address is just a normal home address.
