Trying to trace parents/siblings of William Green born in Spratton Northants abt 1802. He served as Regimental tailor for the 19th Foot Regiment, was out of county for most of his life. Married an 'Elizabeth Ann' had a daughter Lydia and died in 1863 in Birkenhead.
Thanks

You will need to consult the parish records for Spratton. These can be found at the Northamptonshire Record Office.
The same records have been copied onto fiche by the Latter Day Saints and are available to view at their family history centres all over the world for a small hire fee. The records cover 1538 - 1970s with some gaps in the 1600s. You can check out the catalogue of what is available at their website.

If your William married after civil registration began, then his marriage certificate is a must for his father's name and occupation.

Yes in the process of ordering army records, I know his marriage to 'Elizabeth'[born Deal Kent] was an army wedding but having no luck tracing it. I know he was the regimental tailor and most of his family were born whilst stationed in Cork Ireland.
However his parentage is elusive. Thanks for all the suggestions and information, particularly regarding John/Mary Green

However his parentage is elusive.
You now have pointers to two parishes whose registers you can check. Both sets of registers have been filmed by the Mormons so if you don't live near Northants record office you could make use of their services.
