A few more notices from the North Devon Journal
21.1.1825 On Monday se’nnight at Wilton near Taunton, Mrs Mutleberry, a respectable old Lady in the 90th? year of her age, who it is said, had the honour of being a foster mother to his present Majesty.
11.2.1825 At Cumbe..es?, in Scotland, on the 14th ult., Betty Shearer, at the advanced age of 99. – She was a kean (sic) Jacobite and often recounted with much enthusiastic delight having seen Prince Charles (the Pretender) as he passed through the village on his march from Dumfries to England.
20.5.1825 Suddenly, on Tuesday morning, aged 64, Jane, the wife of Mr Henry Ralph of Tavistock and formerly of the Green Dragon Inn. She retired to bed in perfect health at ten o’clock and in half an hour after was a corpse. [Charming turn of phrase, don't you think?]
26.1.1827 On Wednesday morning, in this town by the Rev. Mr Gamble, Mr Robert Pulsford, Mason, to Priscilla Holloway – This is the fifth time that the gallant bridegroom has been a votary at the shrine of Hyman; his marriage to his fourth bride took place about eleven months since, whom he had the misfortune to lose about nine weeks ago. [My husband reckons he must have killed them all off....]
By the way, the dates are the dates of the newspapers.
Best wishes
Ann
