My mothers father was illegitimate but there have always been jokes and references about the family being jewish.
I have found some jewish families, though no single men old enough to be the father, who were living in the town at the time.
could it be likely that an affaire with my g.granny could have taken place?
she din't marry until 9 yrs after my grandfathers birth and one of her sons from that marriage has the same relativly uncommmon first name as one of the men I found on the census.
