Hi Meerten

Woodcutt is close to Six Penny Handley which is near Shaftesbury in Dorset

Woodcutts
Woodcutts gets its name from Woodcote and Woodcott 'The cottages in the woods' which dates from the Saxon settlements here. This is a lovely little hamlet and sits on the Northern border of the county with its houses surrounding commonland which has no resemblance to the ancient village nearby, this was inhabited by Iron Age man through to the time that the Romans came and on to when it was abandoned in 370AD. The settlement was on high Downland and was a single farm before the Romans came and the peasants farmed the land and lived in wooden huts.
