I'm looking for my Romany Gypsie line..i feel i must warn you though that i have very little to go .. the little bits [and i mean little bits] of info i was given by my late mother are very little to go on ..mother was almost shut mouth about the family genealogy thing ...what i was told was that my Grandmother Annie Lovegrove was of Romany gypsie descent and brn in Somerset ,this turned to untrue .....and they made jewellery .or something like that .. possibly watch making?? In the family line there was a seventh son of a seventh son ??..what ever that means.. now through i seaches i find out that grandma was actually brn 1899 in birmingham not somerset and went by the surname lovegrove ..and gives her father as Fredrick lovegrove brn in coventry and mother as Mary Dodwell brn?? with help from very kind people i discover there was a mary dodwell brn in warwickshire...there is no marriage listed for lovegrove/ dodwell.. what i like to find out is ...what is the connection with dodwells and gypsies..on another thread it was mention that there was a sidwell/dodwell connection ..i have found that some gypsies in the black patch area of birmingham had the surname sidwell ,could this be the connection?, any help would be appreciated annie
