MINCKS, JONES, HAGEL, BAKER Families

Captain John H. Mincks (Merchant Navy) married Elizabeth Jones, Oct. 1852 St. George in the East Middlesex. They had three children that I know of

John W. Mincks
Elizabeth Mary Mincks - 9 June 1857
Rebecca Mincks - 7 March 1860

Elizabeth died 1865 on board ship docked at Sunderland

John married Sarah Baker Hagel the widow of Francis Hagel on 12 Oct. 1869, Parish Church of Homerton Middlesex.

Elizabeth Mary Mincks married Archibald Hagel son of Sarah and Francis, August 1872.

John H. and Sarah came to Canada in 1873 along with John W., Rebecca and Sarah's daughter Amy Hagel.

If anyone is searching for this family I would like to hear from them.

Elizabeth Mary Mincks is in my family tree. I would like to trade info about the Mincks and Hagel familys.

Hi, I just got your message about Elizabeth Mary Mincks. I am going to ask you how you are related to her because as far as I know after her death all of her children were sent to Canada to live with relatives here. There were two Mincks families in London in the 1860's and they are not related. The other one is actually Mintz. It is a German family and the name was changed to Mincks on most records. The strange thing is that they all lived in St. George in the East and went to the same church. The father of this other family was Johannes - usually called John and the mother was Elizabeth. As you can expect it was very hard to separate them. I was fortunate to meet up via a message board with a decendent of the other family and between us we managed to clear up which children belonged to which family.

Elizabeth was my husband's grandmother's sister.

After further research I find that I am related to the German Mincks family that you mentioned. I do however have some copies of marriage entries etc for your John Mincks that I have downloaded along the way. If you contact me off board at dave2637 AT hotmail DOT co DOT uk I will send them to you.
