View Full Version : Anc* Family Tree & searching problems

Has anyone run into difficulty lately building family trees on Ancestry? I've been creating new trees on that website for years, usually to assist friends etc with their research.
In the past I have built a small tree, mother, father, + child, then start searching. Immediately I get hits, then attach census records, birth records etc to the person & an event is created.
Now I'm finding that Ancestry can't seem to find any records for people in the trees that I create, and when I find the record myself (which incidentally is built on the exact data that I have found on Ancestry) & tell Ancestry to attach it to that person, it does attach it but doesn't create an event (eg Residence event when attaching a census record). Ancestry does sometimes create a few "hints" but they are way off the mark.
At first I thought that they were phasing out the "old search", but I've tried the "new search" with the same dismal results.
I have contacted them, but the reply is that they are closed, and it will be Tuesday or Wednesday before I have a reply.

I put a tree up, a few years ago, and they lost it completely. Thankfully I had a back up copy.

To be honest, I am so fed up with the length of time it takes for updates in my tree to be made, and to be registered in their search engines (it can be months now, believe me!) that I am seriously at the point where I think I will withdraw my tree altogether and just keep it at Tribal Pages. You can update things fast there and the searches seem to get onto the changes within a couple of weeks at most.
