Help with uniform

Please can anyone help me find out what regiment the uniform is on the photo of my wifes gg grandparents the photo was taken in 1890 in bengal india the gentleman is Herbert john Child i have no idea of his birth and the lady is Maud Margaret Joyce born Colchester in 1874 any info would be greatly accepted

I don't know, but a copy of his marriage certificate from the GRO (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/) should provide you with his rank and regiment.

The marriage is recorded in the Army Marriages Index:

CHILD, Herbert John - Dinapore - 1890 - Page 60

A corresponding entry for Maude Margaret JOYCE exists with the same place, year and page number, confiming this to be the correct entry.

Thanks for that i have already ordered a copy but still waiting on it i wasnt to sure as to wheather or not it would have his rank and regiment on it
