HI Carol49983,
I had a look for Phoebe Bowers in the 1871 with a birthplace of Ormskirk and can not find her.
The 1871 on Ancestry is still missing entries though so she may still turn up.

Hi Carol49983,
I have checked for Phoebe under her maiden name and can not find her.
Do you have a year of birth for her father Henry or possible siblings for her?
Can't help you with the 1861 census I am afraid.

Hi Carol,
Do you want a copy of the 1871 census image?
You could get the marriage certificate of your grandfather and grandmother as this should give their ages. Have you tried Free BMD to find the details. If not there you may have to work through the GRO indexes.
If born pre 1901 the census would pick them up but difficult without more information.

Hi Procat.
My Grandmother was Ann Badger born 1874 sheffield.her father was Walter badger and catherine nee sanderson.Ann married Samuel Ernest Bisby born 1873. on 23 april 1892 sheffield. they had 5 children.one i know of was Emily bisby born 1893.and married william walker and went to live in Footscray victoria Australia.Emily died 1981.I have searched for the death of samuel e bisby.on free Bmd. with no luck.i thought if i could find his death.then i would have a date to go on when ann was free to marry my grandfather george j oxley.[if they ever was ?] well thanks for all your help.
if you mean the 1871 census image for george j oxley[sheffield] or charles m mcdonald.[lancs.]yes please!!
also can i ask you.......if my sister sent away for her mothers death cert.would it give her date of birth? she died 1949

Hi Carol 49983
I think 1871 may be a couple of decades too early for Oxley and McDonald.
The death certificate will not give a date of birth but will usually give an age. Keep in mind that the information was provided in the best circumstances by next of kin who knew the facts and in the worst circumstance by a hospital employee, doctor etc who knew none of the facts.
