Recently I discovered a family member Alan Peterkin born Liverpool 1892 was on the US 1920 census in San Joaquin California. At least I think it is him -as about the right age, with a Scottish father and an Irish mother all correct. From the death index I discovered that he died March 1973 in Santa Cruz. He appears to have married a Doroth W. Standish, born 1902 Michigan. Would there be anyone who could look him up on the US information available, especially to know if he had children and his occupation.

There is also a brother of Alan called William Peterkin who was born at sea in 1880 ( father a mariner - family lived in Liverpool). The only record I have of William - other than the UK censuses of 1891 and 1901 - is that he was a crew member -4th Engineer -of the vessel "Port Royal" in about 1926 - which appears to be a mail service to the West Indies. Just in case he also settled in the USA, I would appreciate a lookup. Thanking you
Judith

On the 1930 US Census, he is living on Linden Road in San Joaquin, California. His wife Dorothy W. is 28, born in Michigan, of parents born in Michigan. They have a daughter Dorothy E, aged 8, born in California. They have been married about 10 years. He is a dry cleaner in a cleaning shop, he immigrated in 1912, is naturalized, owns his home, value $5,200. His wife is a presser in a cleaning shop. He states he is not a veteran.

Hello Adele and Wirral,
Many thanks for your information in the two posts. All this information pertains to our family. There are three William Peterkin - all related - but two mentioned in this information, one the uncle of the other. It is also great to have the information about Alan Peterkin and to know there was a daughter. Many thanks.
