Alfred C. Livett b 1918 married Catherine McLeod 1939 and was otherwise known as "Sonny" Livett. Apparently Alfred "Sonny" was involved in criminal activities associated with the notorious Kray brothers in London. He died in 1993. The marriage didn't last and Catherine left for some one else. I am trying to find out ,what if anything, happened to Sonny.

You would need to ask Martina Cole.
Sorry Vanessa, just joking, :)

I suppose it would be his children you would need to look for as you will not find him in a census. Do you know if they had any?

There are present day Livetts on Facebook but whether there is any connection I don't know. There are also Livetts on the Thames, that's the right area but again I have no idea of their family background.

I need to make a correction. Alfred was not known as Sonny. I have just been re-reading an email about what is known and piecing it together.

I have the birth marriage and death dates of all the family members, but I was interested in Alfred's criminal activities. I can find no mention of him in the Kray biographies and other bits online.

Thank you Mutley. It is always me with the |banghead|. Makes life a bit more interesting. It is a black sheep sideshoot and I would like to flesh it out a bit with some facts.:D

Pardon my intelligence or lack thereof, but who is Martina Cole? :o

Pardon my intelligence or lack thereof, but who is Martina Cole? :o

She is an English author who writes novels, at least 12, of the criminal underworld in the East End area. They are all fictional but obviously she has knowledge of the main players around the time frame and locality that Alfred may have wandered. ;)

Aah! Thanks for the enlightenment Mutley. I am starting to think it is a falsehood anyway as most "family legends" are :D

Nah..Hold off on all the drama kids! |hug|I believe I was in London at the time they were both sentenced to life for murder. |banghead| But thank goodness I wasn't interested then. My dad would have been horrified.

I think I might have struck a little brick on another site so will see what evolves. It has completely sidetracked me off what I was doing beforehand and will find it tough to get back on track.

The following has nothing to do with the above:

PS My dad's 2nd cousin in UK who is 86 phoned this morning telling me he'd received my letter and was sending me all his photos since his grand children aren't interested and he was just thrilled to bits. I am hoping to get to BC in the fall when he comes over to visit his brother in law and we can all meet up!

Now why can't they all be like that?

Update on "my uncle Livett": Someone contacted me regarding the same person but had him married to someone else in Devon. Anyway I researched her line and gave the correct certs to order and continued my Livett line of research. I turned up a "cousin" in Sheppey and wrote.

I just received an email today and I hit the nail on the head. He made no mention of any criminal stuff so it is probably "just a farflung rumour". Any how his mother has lots of diaries up in his loft and he and his wife are now on the hunt.

They were just bowled over when they received a letter from Canada and just as knocked over to discover they had a "missing" rellie. |jumphappy

Adele - who would have thought that an "immigrant family of 5" albeit English growing up in Canada with nary a relative in sight would finally find some. It's starting to get a bit stupid!! |laugh1|

Finbar - I need your phone number! :D

You do realize that if you keep finding these relatives, that some day you'll have a distant cousin on your doorstep looking for a couch to surf or a few dollars to tide him over...
Don't quite know which smiley to attach to this post....

Answer is simple. "Here's a blankey and there's the greenhouse - the ground is soft this time of year":D

Luck doesn't run to lottery tickets. Keep buying them and nada, every time! Bought the Super 7 and the Western so we shall see! Think how many certs I could buy or trips I could take to UK if I won! Gee...I could trip over to Ontario and visit you :D

I have just received photos of my aunt and her husband - the first I have ever seen! |jumphappy Included but slightly hidden is the alleged illustrious Sonny! He doesn't look so scary (because he is ducking behind his wife) :D

Seeing the family resemblances is what makes it a bigger thrill. :) I just have one more Uncle, my dad's brother, to get and that requires a phone call to a "81 yr old crusty male cousin" who couldn't seem to remember to send a pic along with all the others he sent! Oh, well - I will try anyway and risk getting the phone clicked in my ear :D
