Looking for any offspring of:
Edward Jarvis b. Chelsea 1877, Mariner
Susan Elizabeth Clarke b. Poole 1876
Married Poole, Dorset 2nd April, 1899
Susan Elizabeth b. 1900
Believe Susan to have married Charles H Pitfield in 1926 Poole.
It's possible that there were three more children:
Sept. 1901 Winifred Jarvis - Poole
Sept. 1902 Vera Evelyn Jarvis - Poole
June. 1903 Emma Jarvis, Poole.
It appears that mother Susan Elizabeth died June Qtr. 1903 aged 24 so possibly in childbirth if this Emma was her child.
Edward Jarvis died Poole, Sept. Qtr. 1912 aged 36.
I had hoped that there would have been a continuing male line, but I don't think this is the case.
Posting this just in case someone is searching and this gets picked up.

Emma b. 1903 appears on the 1911 Census but not with any other Jarvis family members.

Wow Nicolina! I wasn't actually looking for any results, especially as I didn't have enough information to warrant my spending out on the 1911, but this is an indication of what happened to young Emma at least.
When mother Susan died, which looks like in childbirth or soon after ( I haven't got her death certificate at this point) it looks as if someone has taken the baby in. I can't immediately see a family link, so another family has obviously taken her in.
Possibly Edward managed to look after the other young ones for a few years and then he died a year after the Census. I did try a search for him when I had a few units a while back, but couldn't spot him. Perhaps I'll have another go and see where he was living and who with. I'd more or less given this line up, as I couldn't see it going forward especially when the offspring were female. I hadn't got as far as thinking about the children being motherless when she died.
Edward is the brother of my grandfather, with a name like Jarvis, it was difficult tracing some of his siblings, but as he left London for Dorset, I was able to track him down.
Thank you so much Nicolina, I really appreciate your time in looking this up. |hug|

Sept. 1902 Vera Evelyn Jarvis - PooleThere is a marriage in the June quarter of 1921 in Huddersfield District (a bit of a trek from Dorset, I know, but if the family split up....) for a Vera E JARVIS to a Frank H GRANT (vol 9a, page 833)
It seems that a daughter may have been born to them in the June quarter of the following year in Huddersfield: Sylvia G GRANT (9a/507)
Any use?

The Jarvis name was a brickwall for me for many years, only mine came from East Anglia.
It is possible that Edward was away at sea when the 1911 Census was taken.
Using the same tactics, as my last search, I've found another household that MIGHT have taken in a child.
HOLLOWAY JANE F 1856 55 Poole Dorsetshire
HOLLOWAY ELSIE F 1892 19 Poole Dorsetshire
HOLLOWAY ANNIE F 1894 17 Poole Dorsetshire
HOLLOWAY JOSEPH M 1898 13 Poole Dorsetshire
JARVES ELIZABETH F 1900 11 Poole Dorsetshire
I know that I'm clutching at straws but that seems to be all that's available at the moment.

Thank you so much for searching Elaine I really appreciate your time in doing this. As I said, I wasn't really expecting any results, but just wanted to register the names so that they might get picked up in a search.
However, I was so thrilled when you found out what had happened to Emma, and this made me think outside the box. I had forgotten that the children would have been motherless.
I can't see that this Elizabeth fits my family, as Edward and Susan's first child was Susan Elizabeth, born 1900 who then went on to marry Charles Pitfield. I suppose it may have been possible, but pushing it a bit, for two to be born in the same year, especially as Winifred was born Sept. 1901. Still, I won't discount it at present as stranger things have happened, and it would explain a strange name in amongst a family.
Edward could have been at sea in 1911 I suppose. I did wonder if he'd married again, but couldn't find a marriage up until his death in 1912. I must get his death certificate as it may shed some light on that.
Thanks again for your help. :)

Many thanks for this Jan! It is quite possible. A marriage cert would answer this question, so I think I will be spending a bit of money on certs over the next few weeks.
I can't help laughing to myself! If you have ever followed my Jarvis family, nothing has been simple from the word go....it's been full of all sorts of mysteries! Edward is not my direct line, but the brother of Alfred John, who was my father's father. He's just been a bit easier to follow living in a different location than Chelsea London! I've traced Maria their sister to Suffolk but the other siblings I've given up on as there are too many Jarvises in London.
Thanks again. :)

at least the experiment was a success. I wanted to know if I could find other household members when I didn't know who "odd" kids were living with.
I have quite a few very young kids with no apparent family, hopefully it will help to clear up a few mysteries.
You've also inspired me to start on my Jarvis line again.

I'm really pleased about that. :)
Good luck and thank you.
