WW2 Photo, What regiment ?

This photo is WW2 vintage & includes a member of our family.

Can anyone identify the regiment or the location perhaps ?

I have his two other brothers details but somehow his service number has been lost to time.

How can we find his records without the service number ? It is not made any easier by our family name...Smith |banghead|

What a jolly looking lot of chaps, happy enough to be new rookies. the fair chap in front row, right end looks rather like my brother but he did his service in Oz.many yrs after this group. ;)
