Hi Ken
Did you know Thos & Mary are in 1841 census as MIXON?
both aged 80 but ages were rounded off, in almshouse, both bn county.
It looks like Nixson??
"something" Row in Nantwich.
I won't send error surname to A*.
As his birthplace is not listed, it will be difficult to know which baptism is his in the IGI unless you have info from his marriage at all?
Witnesses may have been a sibling/father?
I hope this has been of some help.
Good luck

The Almshouses are in Welch Row. Have you discounted the Thomas NICKSON baptised 1856 at St Oswald's Malpas, father Thomas mother Elizabeth, on the IGI. I know it is member submitted, but Malpas is not too far away from Nantwich. Any help from the names he gave his children or any clues from his marriage record??

Thanks Friends,
The Thomas Nixon I am looking for was born about 1760ish, what is the IGI?
I am presuming he was born in Nantwich as the whole of my nixon lot are from there, incidently Nixons Row(terraced houses)in Nantwich built by John Nixon who would've been Thomas's grand son.
I think the Nixon name came from Scotland, Border Reevers! but I am pretty sure Thomas was born there and his Parents aswell.
I think it's a brickwall?

A word of warning too - the IGI for Cheshire is notoriously poor. I shouldn't think there are more than 30% of baps and marriages on there - and I may even be being generous with that figure! Being a person whose majority of ancestry is Cestrian, believe me, I know this to my cost. The only way to do it is to trawl through all those parishes. For Nantwich and area you would have to search Nantwich itself, then Acton, Malpas, Tilston, even Wybunbury. These are just a handful!
When I'm next at Manchester Library, Ken, I'll have a gander in Nantwich for your Tom circa 1760s, but from what I remember from my own countless trawlings for several family lines through several Cheshire parishes, Nixon is quite a popular name! :) I'll do my best for you.

Thank you for your efforts, I think he was married once before 14/11/1791, they had a son John who died aged 1 then his wife died 6/2/1703.
A Thomas Cartwright was a witness at both weddings, interesting the childs name John? Could that have been Thomas's fathers name?

Did the family leave any Wills? http://www.cheshire.gov.uk/Recordoffice/Wills/

Tried the wills, but nothing of any help on there.
I am going to Nantwich in June so I will have to see if there's anything locally that points me in the right direction, until then I will keep on trawling!
Thanks

Records for Cheshire are held at Cheshire County Archives in Chester. There might be little at Nantwich itself.
Most of the church registers are on microfilm, so you will need to book a microfilm reader in advance (some days it is very busy). They also have books of transcribed records, cemetery indexes etc.
