Can anyone advise on how I get a copy of the original birth certificate.

I have the GROS data number and full details of the year, name, sex and place of birth which I got from Scotland's Peopl website.

I have only ordered English certificates so far online. Can you order Scotish ones in the same way?

thanks

Images of the register entries are available to download from the Scotland's people website for births from 1855 up to 1908. The information given in the register is the same as what you would get if you ordered a "certified" copy of the entry of birth.

After 1908, I believe you have to order an "extract" which is the information extracted from the register, and would also be the same as if you ordered a "certified" certificate. The indexes go up to 2006, but you need to apply for the "extract" but I think you can do it online via Scotland people website.

Prior to 1855, the baptisms are also available to download from the website. However, a large number of Scottish people were catholic, and the Catholic registers are not available on the Scotland People website.
Hope this helps.
