JAMES BARNES

James Barnes emmigrated to South Africa from the UK in 1900. He was a seargent in the Empangeni Police Station in KwaZulu-Natal Province. He had a son Joel James and a daughter who died aged 2. He didn't marry the childrens mother but was deported around 1920 because of apartheid. I don't know the name of the woman he lived with nor where and when he was born. If anyone could find him on the shipping list with his age or his full name or any bit of info, this would help a great deal.

Have you a date of birth when James was born?, there seems to be 2 according to one site departing 1900
J BARNES born 1870 from Southampton to Durban
James C BARNES born 1874 from London to Cape

Hi Louisa.
Thank you for taking the trouble to search for me.
I have since found out that James sailed in 1899 and he born in Scotland and he was a soldier.
I have no DOB I'm sorry, I wish I did as it would make the search a lot easier.
