Hi
I've been researching my family history for some years, but I'm still no further ahead with my paternal grandmother! All shrouded in mystery.....
Her name was Fanny Reed (possibly read), born 1900, mother was Miriam, birth date unknown. Fanny had a brother, Robert, b.c.1907, and two sisters, Dorothy b.c.1904 and Ethel b.c.1897. They lived in the West Bridgford area, they were middle class with businesses in the town, probably in the Musters Road area. One of these was a record shop in the 50's and other's were radio and TV shops I understand. Dorothy was a masseuse.
There is no record of them on the 1901 census, and I've heard it rumoured that they had Russian blood, and maybe an Irish connection. Dorothy apparently married Sir Leslie Watts in later life and they were seen in 'Tatler' in the fifties. My grandmother Fanny had a son John (my father) in 1927 by Alfred Edward Wheeler, although they weren't married, and Alfred died in 1929.
If anyone can shed any light on the family, it would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards
Mark Wheeler
