Hi everyone,
I'm woundering if anyone can help or advise me on what to do next.
I've located information on my Great Great Great Grandparents Abel and Ann Homer. I've been lucky enough to research Abel Homer's family further back on the familysearch website.
I'm really stuck on Abel's wife Ann I do have the following information:
Ann Rounds
born: abt 1811 Dudley Port/Tipton area
Married: All Saint's Church West Bromwich 1832
Lived: Tipton area from 1841 census onwards
I have located a number of possible parents and siblings living nearby in the Dudley/Tipton area (1841 census) but I can't confirm which one. The problem is I've got William, John, Samuel and Joseph all coming out the woodwork at me and I'm getting punch drunk.
Any ideas?
Kind regards

You have said that she was born in the Dudley Port/Tipton area. What does it state on each of the different censuses as to her place of birth?

Hi Jan,
That was a very good question because I've gone back and searched from the 1841 census and found the following for Ann Homer:
1841 born 1811 Tipton
1851 born 1812 Burntree
1861 born 1811 Dudley Port
1871 born 1810 Tipton
Interestingly I couldn't find her on my previous searches on the 1851 but I've found her under Ann Hamer and this give her birth as Burntree. Burntree is a area in Dudley Port, so Dudley Port looks a good bet. I also found on the 1841 census a Sarah Round born 1821 living next door to Ann and family. Sarah could be a sister of Ann?
What do you think?

Hi Adrian,
It is certainly possible that Sarah and Ann were sisters.
Now, where to next? I think that the parish records would be your next step - concentrate on Tipton as, according to GENUKI (http://www.genuki.org.uk/cgi-bin/places?STS,SO950920,5,Tipton), Dudley Port is only a mile away and I cannot find a church for Dudley Port itself.
If you visit Hugh Wallis' IGI website (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm) and search for Round in Tipton, loads come up. Click on the ones in which you are interested and you will see the references to the extracted records. You could then use these references to order the films to view at a Family History Centre near you.

Hi Donna,
I'm pleased to hear from you my distant, distant relative.
I'm afraid I've got no further in finding out the parents of Ann because of the many Round families living around (no pun intended:D) the Tipton and Dudley areas.
I think Ann is somehow related to William Round born abt 1796 Dudley, Worcestershire who also had a child Ebeneezer and was living very close to Ann in Great Bridge, Tipton. William's other son also named his child Ebenezer so the Ebenezer name seems to have been used alot by William and his direct family. The problem is I don't know if William was the father or brother of Ann and I've been unable to confirm this on the IGI or any other site (I live in Finland so I'm unable to access any resource centres in the Uk).
The Round family seems to have originated from Dudley before moving out into Tipton, Cradley Heath and Halesowen areas.
I have quite alot of informtion on the Homers and was wondering if you knew that Ebenezer Homer a Grandson of your Ebenezer was killed fighting in the First World War.
