Hi,
I also have PIPER in Hawkhurst, of St Lawrence parish, but at an earlier date than the person who posted Friend/Piper. Would be interested in knowing if there is a connection and to maybe fill in some blanks.

I have as far back as a John Piper who married Margaret in the mid 1600s but the info there and descending is for the most part sketchy - as to dates, occupations and maiden names.

William FOSTER married Elizabeth PIPER in 1776; their son John left by the early 1800s, first to NY state USA, then later to settle in Ontario, Canada.

Hi amehn,
I have just discovered the PIPER connection in my family, so unfortunately, don't know too much about them. Fanny PIPER, who married Thomas FRIEND, was the daughter of Henry PIPER who was the sexton at the church (St Lawrence's). At the time of my 5xgt grandparents marriage, (another) Thomas FRIEND and Phillis WOOLGAR in 1815, Thomas PIPER was the clerk at the church, so maybe they are all connected somwhere.
Regards, truey52

Hi t.

If you would like to e-mail me personally, I can send you what I have so far on the PIPER family, if you think it would help you in your research. I don't have a Henry and most information doesn't go as far as the mid 1800s but it might give you some ideas. I don't know how big Hawhurst is but I'm guessing the PIPERS could all be related.

I took a photo today of a headstone for "William Piper stonemason of this parish ( Hawkhurst) leaving a Widow five sons and three daughters. Also Elizabeth his wife."

The Headstone is really nice but the year and age at death are written in letters? It says Elizabeth was aged FC years and William was RFFi years?

I only looked at the inscription on the photo when I got home - so didn't take any notice of the wording at the church, but I can go back and have a look.

Please email me for a copy of the photo.

Hi. I am also looking for a Piper. Her name was Susanna Piper and married a James Frid on Oct. 29, 1790 in Limpne, Kent, England. That's all the information I have. I am a Frid and am trying to find out if there is any relationship.

The Piper's you mention in your letter here do you have any mention of where abouts in Ontario they migrated to. My family originated in the Niagara region of Ontario and in areas of that area known as Lincoln,Effingham,Gainsbourgh,St.Anns, Smithville areas in the yearly 1800-30's from parts unknown before that time ,Their father may have been named Len or Leonard possible that he married a Mary E. Horton ,we are not sure if she was his first wife or not. But he had son's Henry born1815,Casper born 1817 ,Levi born1820, William H. born 1825,Nathaniel1828 ,and at 1 least a daughter MaryAnne, to whom we believe moved back to England, If possible if these people have any connection email me at
