Hello !

I am hoping to find an expert on the cricket teams in the North County Dublin area between the 1850s and 1922. I think some of my ancestors (by the family name of Moore) were involved. In fact one ancestor possibly went by the nickname of "Captain Moore" - because he captained one of the estate teams. Can anyone shed any light please?

I cannot help specifically, but cricket clubs are great at retaining memories and histories of cricketers from times gone by. You might try contacting clubs in the Leinster Cricket Union (http://www.cricketeurope4.net/LEINSTER/GENERAL/WEBLINKS/index.shtml), to see if any of them have old photos, or scorebooks.

Yep Thanks Geoffers. Did that already, but no joy so far. Genealogy does not seem to figure large on the websites and people I have spoken to don't know much more. There was a tantalising hint of something on Ballybriggan.net that might relate but otherwise zip.

Needless to day, I remain interested in other parties chipping in.
