Hello all,
Hope you can help with this limited information and as my geography of the UK is sadly lacking appologies in advance.

I am looking for a birth for James Donovan c 1882 place of birth "OLD kENT RD" as recorded in 1891 census age 9.

Q. Which registration district would this be, have tried BMD,1837online etc but no luck.

Parents May Ann formally Cowell and James Donovan or Hines -Donovan as sometimes known by.

Any suggestions welcome.

Any suggestions welcome.Sorry I can't help with what registration district Old Kent Road falls into but you could narrow the possibilities down a bit.

If you do a search for "Old Kent" on www.streetmap.co.uk, you should get a couple of hits for London [SE1 and SE15] and Tonbridge, Kent [TN12].

Although you don't say, I believe your search is for Old Kent Road in London, isn't it? There are 2 possibilities on the Civil Registration Index for a James DONOVAN who would be 9 years old in the 1891 census, both born in the December quarter of 1881 -- one in Kensington, the other in Poplar [both London, Middlesex].

You can probably rule out the one for Poplar as I think I see him popping up with a different set of parents in the 1901 census. So maybe the Kensington boy is a good possibility for you...

Good luck.

Trish

Cancel that! You said 1882 :o

That would make it St Saviour Southwark.
