Vale House,The Vale, Bowdon Cheshire.

Haven't found specifics on the property but at one time there were servants employed there.

Just read Trudy's post. You may need to get your scuba gear on...

That's correct. The community was one of those which disappeared under the Longdendale reservoirs. It was just up the valley from Tynsel.

Again, thank you so much for all your valuable information :O)

I have been looking for ages to find the family in 1871 and found them last night with the surname misspelt *tuts* I still can't find them in 1851 and am desperate to find out William's wifes name. I have "walked" through Tintwistle (not sure I can call it Tinsel Graham as I'm not a local lol). Has anyone any ideas where to look next please? Any help is always grately appreciated.

I was born in Partington Maternity Home - never sure whether that's Glossop or Dinting township - and was brought up in Hadfield. I moved to Tees-side in 1968 and have lived here ever since. We still get back regularly to see my Mum though - there last weekend as a matter of fact.

We also have close connections with Glossop Heritage Centre through my knowing some of the people concerned with it in years gone by.
