I have a picture of a house with nothing written on the back. I think - because of the box it came out of - that it might just be a picture of my husband's maternal grandfather's family home in Barnwood. I can't get it onto this message but if anyone wants to take a look could you pm me or just ask here.

Hi Sue,
I thought I had put the URL for the picture on here but it seems to have disappeared - anyway here it is

Hi Ann,
The first thing that strikes me is that it is on a Hill! Gloucester and particularly Barnwood is quiet flat. There are houses around in this style, but I am trying to think where there is a hill, and then I may be able to pieve it together.
Other than Barnwood do you have any other areas that could be possible?
Regards

Ruspidge is the other place, in the Forest. that's where the PAINTER family were I said Barnwood because mother-in-law seemed to think it was the DAVIES side of her family that lived in the house and they lived in Barnwood and Gloucester. I thought at the time that she was guessing - something in the tone of voice - but I went along with it. I have just checked my journal and I did make a note to keep the options open about the location of the house.
Thank you for taking the time to think about this.

HI Ann
Yes, Ruspidge does seem likely, we lived in CInderford for 4 years (Ruspidge is just down the road), and there are a lot of houses like this.
It drove me mad last night trying to think of where it was , and I kept thinking the only place I know where there are houses like this and hill is the Forest!
Even the coping? stones on the roof, look like those in the forest.
I hope this helps you make a little progress!
Best wishes
Sue
