Hi

Could anyone tell me if a woman's death certificate in 1884 would give her maiden name?

Thanks

Kaff

Hi Kaff,

Not if it was a certificate from England or Wales. Have a read of Barbara Dixon's certificate website (http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/deaths.htm).

It will say "wife of..." or "widow of..." which may lead you to the information you want.

xNot from English/Welsh certificates. Click the certificate website link in post #2 above.

Also as Peter said, it will say "wife of..." or "widow of..." This should name the husband and so you should be able to search for a marriage.
