Hi could this be your Ethel in 1911?
Ethel Eugene Kirk bn 1892 in Ashton U Lyne?
There's quite a few Kirks listed.
It's free to look but pay per view for the household.

Cheers

Do you have their marriage certificate?? If not, you really need to purchase it (June qtr 1921 at Ashton, vol 8d, page 950) because this will give you names and professions of both of their fathers which will make tracing both Fred and Ethel in the 1901/1911 census records much easier.

There is, for example, a Fredk PIERREPONT in Barnsley, Yorkshire in the 1901 census, son of Frederick and Ada, born c1899, but you do need the marriage certificate to confirm this is the correct family. If it is, you are in luck because mother in law is with them, thus giving you in all probability the maiden name of his mother.

Is this the same Fred in your other post - married in 1902 - asking if anyone knows how long that marriage lasted?

where would i look to find out if the Fred that married in 1902 is the same Fred that married in 1921 without buying the certificate? I have found quite a few dates for him. If you order on line i dont think you get all your money back if its the wrong one. Please can anyone help

The only "free" way would be to find where the church records were held, then head over and check them out I suspect.

You are correct that you don't get your money back if you order a certificate and it proves to be the wrong person - that is one of the joys of genealogy I am afraid.
I am sure most of us have paid for certificates which were incorrect. It can be minimised with careful research and logic, but sometimes one has to take a stab in the dark.
I always look at certificates which are incorrect as a positive - at least it discounts that one from the search.

If you already know that the Ethel & Fred who married one another in 1921 are your ancestors, then purchasing their marriage certificate will be the first step in finding them in earlier records. This certificate will give you fathers' name & profession for both bride and groom, bride and groom's ages at marriage, where bride and groom were living at the time of their marriage and hopefully, if you think that Fred was married previously, the fact that he was a widower - not always the case though unfortunately. However, his age on his second marriage certificate should indicate whether he was old enough to have been married earlier in 1902.

Ethel Eugene Kirk born 1892 in Ashton U Lyne who married Fred Pierpoint is my Great Grand-Mother.
Ethels mother was Elizabeth Kirk 1858c, I have her as unmarried?
Her parents were William Kirk and Ellen Dinsdale.

Me again
Have you the birth cert for Ethel Eugene please or baptism?
I've looked in 1901 where she is listed as g/dghtr of Ellen. It doesn't list Elizabeth as her mother obviously
as she was not head of the family.
Just wondering if E.E could have been the daughter of another Kirk?
Or perhaps you have the 3 women & their relationships in the following census?
Thank you
