Not Lambert's Horse - misremembered.
My grandfather James William Hulme was in this cavalry outfit briefly in the Boer War, having been caught up in it while visiting his sister Harriet Fly. Has anyone heard of it?

There were two units of Brabant's Horse, both raised in Queesnstown, South Africa. Ist Brabant's was raised on 5.11.1899 and 2nd Brabant's in January 1900. Both were about 600 strong and were disbanded in Cape Town on 31.12.1901.
There appears to be a nominal role of Brabant's Horse at The National Archive , Kew, in WO 127/3. Babants's horse also gets several mentions in Conan Doyles book "The Great Boer War". This is available as an e-book free of charge on-line. Just type it into your search engine.

Thank you! This was driving me nuts. First there was a Lambert's Horse, but in the Civil War; and then, to make me more  , Doyle mentions someone named Lambert in the Boer War book.
Relieved,
Peggy
